I'm getting ready to turn cows onto ryegrass. It's about 6 inches tall and is growning rapidly. They should be able to stay on the ryegrass for about a month. I just purchased some free choice mineral supplement for them. Is there anything else I should do? Should I feed some hay as well?

i usually feed high magnesium minerals (well, all year round but) especially before turning on rye. If you have extra hay, you can offer it to them (probably wont touch it for a day or two) and it may help keep them from getting the squirts so bad.

I give mine a roll of hay in the morning and turn them on in the afternoon. Don't turn hungry cows in on lush green pastures.
