I was wondering why mineral lick tubs are better then blocks. I've been told that tubs are a waste of money and that blocks are the way to go. We have had little rain in the last two years but swtill have lots of old grass. What advice can anyone give me on this topic. All info I can get will help alot.

The tubs have more mineral content then the blocks. Trace mineral blocks are basically 90% salt and 10% trace minerals.

Both are a waste IMO I just have problems paying 80 bucks for syrup.
If I going to spend froghides on minerals I want mineral's.

Tubs and blocks are made for convenience. I don't use either. You can keep a loose mineral out free choice and use high protein range cubes or a cheaper protein feed to get the cows to utilize the stockpiled grass or mediocre hay.
