trick?

Alvin my pony has this trick that he uses when I'am riding. He bows his head and scratches his leg. One of his previous owners told me it's a trick but now I am not so sure. He is very smart(opening doors, lifting lids, undoing latches,) but if we were are trotting he just suddenly stops. What should I do?

Mar,If he will listen to your leggs i would wach for the moment he hesitates, moving foward and give him a boot.if this is all he needs, just be readythis will send him foward off the leggand afterawhile he will figgure you are a no nonsence rider. This is no trick it's an evasive move. If he won't listen to your legg try a riding crop, the type with a flat popper on it. pop his shoulder with it,it won't hurt but gives a firm smack sound. That is normaly all you need. Good Luck!!!
