When I shift gears in my 98 dodge Ram it has zero power especially up hill. The rpms go strait up and then drop back down on their own w/o me shifting then begin to go up again until it is time to shift up.I been putting it off but it is getting pretty bad .once I get up to speed Im ok in traffic unless I go up a steep hill then the rpms shoot up and I have no power. But it takes a good while to get up to speed. The turbos sound ok and I just changed the fuel filter but I think its the tranny or clutch anyway.Has anybody else expirienced or know about it.I aint much of a mechanic once it gets past the motor. Thanks J.J.

Assuming your truck is a stick, (you didn't say), but if the rpms are truly rising and you are not gaining speed your clutch is slipping. You should be able to smell it burning. There is nothing in the manual trans that will give.
