My trailer brakes are not working on a cattle trailer. On the new trucks it throws a message and dings not stop.

I want to be sure I'm testing it correctly. If I go from ground to the brake prong on the truck while pushing the manual brake lever on the controller I should get voltage right?

I'm not getting any thing. I'm thinking it's on the truck side because none of them are working. I found one fuse under the hood labeled electric brakes and it was good.

You will have to use a test light or something that has a little bit of current draw, an old test light may work, or a headlight bulb. The controller needs to see a ground before it will come on and apply voltage.

If you aren't getting anything at the trailer plug, you'll have to probe the blue wire and see if there's anything there.

These are a cheap and easy way to check your trailer plug functions on your truck.

Ground wires cause more problems with trailer lights and brakes than anything. Make sure everything is grounded well.
