I am looking for a cheaper tractor to leave on the discbine. Considering Case 970/1070, Massey 1085/1105, Oliver 1755/1855, Allis 6080/7000 or whatever. Opinions, advice thanks

We have a massey 1085. We like it for our "chore tractor". It hardly uses fuel, it has a 4 cylinder engine 80 hp. It was actually our first tractor when we moved to our current farm. We did everything with it for several years and had no problems. We have since got some newer tractors, but that 1085 will always have a home here. I would see no problem with buying a good 1085, but if you need more hp, the 1105 or 1135 massey are good 6 cylinder tractors too. My dad has both and has had good luck with them. (I grew up with masseys if you hadnt figured it out, but my husband converted me to Deere LOL)

I had a 6080 that I loved pulled discbine with it alot
I like the 6080 alot better than any 7000 series
mine had a lot more hp than it was rated at and was a good tracto
you can overhaul the 6080 engine for less than $1000 in parts
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one

I have a 10ft NH discbine , my 80 hp CIH 5120 runs it good but when I put it on my 70 hp IH hydro 86 it always ran warm , it never totally overheated but it ran hotter than normal . As long you 80 hp or more for 10 ft you should be ok . If your discbine is bigger , then you might need more than 80 hp.
