According to my recent issue of NCBA's "National Cattlemen" magazine, the top ten states for ALL Cattle are: 1 Texas, 2 Kansas, 3 Nebraska, 4 California, 5 Oklahoma, 6 Missouri, 7 South Dakota, 8 Iowa, 9 Wisconsin and 10 is Colorado. Top ten states for BEEF cows is 1 Texas, 2 Missouri, 3 Nebraska, 4 Oklahoma, 5 South Dakota, 6 Montana, 7 Kansas, 8 Kentucky, 9 Tennessee and 10 North Dakota. Top three states for Cattle On Feed are Texas, Nebraska, and Kansas.
