We brought the main herd home from their summer pasture yesterday and let them settle down before we can wean the calves. One of the first timers was pretty small about 750-800lbs and she was out of an old cow (16 years old). She calved to a big bull calf last March and I was impressed with the bull calf's growth rate and she is bred again. Here's the result.

I bet she can't wait for him to be weaned!.. that is really impressive.. How much milk did he steal?

I had some that did really well on their first calf, but not as well on their second (though still respectable).. I weaned a little early this year and I'll see how she does next year now that she's a bit more grown up and in better shape.
