Tifton 85

Just finished with the sprigging of the Tifton 85. Good prepared seedbed, fetilizer per soil test. 25 bushels sprigs per acre. Rolled with a packer. Waiting for the rain. Need to spray with preemerge, Any suggestions.

Jogeephus: I have read the instructions from several ag experiment stations on the 2,4-D. They say to spray immedietly after sprigging. I sprigged today, would Monday still be considered immedietly.

Yeah. I never could do it immediately either - usually too tired. I think you just need to get it out there prior to weed seed sprouting. I inhibits the root growth somehow.

Ronstar 2G ? I know that's what we put down after we sprigged a golf course in bermuda a few years back.

Not one weed came up.

There should be a lot of pre-emergent herbicides labeled for bermuda.

2-4-D is a post emergent only. It will only kill what has already sprouted.
