There is a company close by that builds communication towers for the military. These towers fold down onto a trailer making them self-contained for travel. The company is in a big expansion mode as they say Trump has contacted them and wants 'X number' of towers for placing on the border as part of his wall. These towers would contain surveillance equipment.

Hope it works, it's a tough situation. Have alot of Mexicans and others up here that work in the poultry and dairy industries and all of a sudden, they are gone and there are new ones....

There's more deadbeats and freeloaders on welfare, food stamps and unemployment than illegals in this country. Put there sorry azz es to work or let em starve. As a matter of fact, if you had to have a job to eat, and get a free phone I'd bet that the freeloaders and deadbeats would run the Mexicans back home.

That's what I call hitting the nail on the head..

An awful lot of broad brush strokes condemning people that are not all the same

I'll have to read back through this thread and look for examples.

To me it's pretty simple, a nation must have clearly defined borders and strong immigration laws that should be full enforced. If a person crosses into this country illegally he or she is a criminal plain and simple. I don't think that violates my faith.

Deadbeats to work is spot on! Take this example. I hire 9 H2a workers each year to work in my tobacco crop. These are legal Mexican men I call my friends. Ton of paper work and expense on my part. Part of the h2a program requires I run a ad in paper for a month each spring. If a able bodied American wants the job and is not a convicted felon I have to hire them. In five years I have had one person approach me about a job. Cut out the free money each month. Most Mexicans don't have a job. Just last week I was behind guy at store. Gov. or me and you payed for his 12 pack cokes. He whipped out cash for his coffee and smokes.

There probably could be a good argument made for the idea that America was made great because it lacked both of those things.
I certainly don't understand a enough about imigration and the benefits and problems. Because of that I don't really have an opinion on what is the best approach.
What I do know are the few facts that I've looked up. 40% of illegals come here legally and the majority of illegals have been here for a number of years. My personal opinion/guess is that so long as the need for good workers are not fulfilled by local people the immigrants will find a way here. I really don't think the problem is the immigrant, it's the Americans that are getting lazier every generation.

Everyone kvetches about illegals coming here and taking jobs. I don't like it but let's face it, if you or I had to do it to survive and to feed our families, we would too (and our ancestors did).
Meantime, we ignore the fact that the "robots" are taking over not only blue collar jobs, but white collar jobs too. That's not all: in addition to robots/computers, not only have we allowed actual humans to come in (both illegally (in the case of manual labor) and legally (in the case of IT and health care)) to do work here, we have sent jobs and projects overseas. Spouse and I have a combined 18 years or so of college yet are seeing our professions threatened by robots, "telehealth", and outsourcing to India by corporations. The US is shipping even our supposedly skilled jobs overseas (many US companies now use, eg, Indian software engineers, who they can pay peanuts). If we don't have factory jobs, and we don't have professional jobs, how the heck does this great American experiment work out?!
(Holy cr@p, am I actually supposed to make a living at this cow thing? :hide: )

Increasing the minimum wage will fix it, just ask the West coast.

We need a wall, and it's not because of people looking for work.

The border is a huge national safety concern. There's a reason that 10 languages are written on the signs along the border. Arabic and Chinese are the most concerning to me. And the terrorist cells trading in the international black market with the Cartels is not a good thing at all. Cartels aren't just smuggling dope.

If you wanted to break the cartels and free mexico, legalize pot and coke. And not with 40% taxes. Just legalize them. The cartels would implode. Ghetto gangs would implode. All the other crap would still exist, but it already does.

Legal immigration is good in a good system. It's only bad when the system is broken. Kill the .gov checks and immigration is no longer a problem. You will select for those wanting to work. You will likely see many lazy people try to exit to easier quarters.

I actually want Mexico to prosper. I want all of our major trading partners to prosper.

Very basic. Do you start up a lexus dealership in the projects? No. You locate and do business with afluent people. You don't sell beef to broke people and you don't build fence for broke people- it's a luxary item and service. Only people that have money will trade you your service or product for money. It's a basic requirement to every deal made from local to international.

Trade is good. When done on level playing field, two people agree to terms and they get something they need. It is inherently good. Both parties benefit. Wealth is created, and only created through trade. International trade is good when the playing field is level.

If we don't have any customers for our products, we don't make any money. Increasing trade options, increases customers.

Tarrif wars are bad. It decreases trade, therefor decreases income. You effectively embargo yourself as well.

Mexico succeding would also stem the flow of people.

Poor countries would benefit the most if they imported our capitalistic system based on freedom, instead of trying to export all their people.

We would benefit as well. Who makes us richer.... Australia or Mexico? Canada or India?

Freedom and free economies create prosperity.

This border problem is nothing new dating back to 1836 with troops sent in on multiple times up to date.
Mexicans have raided and pillaged many times in our history.
They had every right to. It was part of Mexico after they gained independence from Spain for 15 years.

Don't know that a wall, fence or anything else will ever be built but border security certainly needs to be increased tremendously to stop illegals from many countries from crossing.

As for vacations, it's a wonderful place visit. Been there a couple dozen times over the years to different places, both resorts and places in the country. Always treated great. Use to be dirt cheap but price has gone up the last 20 years quite a bit. Still a bargain. Just don't mess up while you're there.
Not really their right to raid and pillage they lost just like the British lot of difference in the Mexican bandits and a Mexican army.
But then again Arizona erected a statute to the foreign invader Pancho Villa so I guess it gets down to ones interpretation of sovereignty.
CB we've had bandits since man was created. The way the US Gov't screwed Villa he probably should have made a few raids just do show his disdain. Talking about a knife in the back. We're still pretty good at that.
