the weather is hurting farmers

Help Support CattleToday:

My daughter, 10 y/o, just watched this video over my shoulder. She was very sad no more marshmallows will be in her hot chocolate...

Is there a fund designated for donations to help these farmers out? I could spare some to help, spread the word around here too.

Is there a point to doing that video? Or did he just have too much time on his hands.

Farming has always been a gamble.
Hopefully someone in D.C. will see this and step up to the plate.

I hear the grit harvest is also in trouble. Doubt that will garner much attention since grits are a deep south breakfast tradition.

Hard to imagine a world without Smores. Surely the government will step up and help with some disaster program or a cost buffering program or some free insurance scheme. I'd help myself but all my extra money is being used to save tigers. Only 3000 or so left in the world. Already extinct in Antarctica. I've adopted some. Hope to see them delivered to the house soon.

I would love to know how many people believe it is real. He may have had to much time on his hands but its funny.

I really don't think we want to know that. There's too many of them confused already. Now we've confused them even more.

Unfortunately there are millions of them right here in the #1 ag producing state. There's an almond farmer here that spends most of his time going to stuff like ballgames just so that he can interact with the general city population and maybe open their eyes a little bit. He says most of them are unaware of the drought and 99% of them have no idea that their food prices would drop if their government would let farmers have access to the delta water.

Food prices aren't dropping CP. Food and fertilizer prices skyrocketed with the rising fuel prices. But neither one has come back down. I don't see where water is any different than fuel, we need both to survive.

Years ago we received a letter from a Fortune 200 company's information specialist who inquired about the start up cost of planting peanut trees. She wanted to know the cost and the estimated time it would take for the trees to begin bearing nuts since they were considering this as an investment opportunity. I'm sure this girl was a smart one. Probably graduated from some Ivy League College. Possibly Harvard. I can't help but think she is now working for the government.

The ignorance of people no longer surprises me any more.

CP I have had to try to explain to people why the store is NOT carrying any fresh strawberries. They get mad until I inform them that a 1# box would cost them almost $8.00 then they get quiet.
Most of them are not even aware there is a drought in California. Love the ones that tell me that it has rained, I sure enjoy telling them that even though it has finally rained the ground was too dry to soak up the moisture and it will take years for good rains to recover.

Had some northern neighbors that believed chocolate milk came out of black cows.

Chocolate milk doesn't come from black cows. Everyone knows it comes from brown cows.

And that strawberry milk is a rarity usually available only from selected solid red cows and fresh calvers.

That's terrible news--just when gas starts to go down, marshmallows will be going up in price. :(
Now what will we put on top of our baked sweet taters?
