Where's the snow? Let's hope they all come out like that

You had to mention snow! It's doing it now. The cows and calves are all laying out in the stuff even though they do have shelter to get into.
They look like longhorns with the white tops and red or black sides.

BullLady-The droopy ears are from being about 30 seconds old.

jerry27150-I thought everyone knew that we crossbreed everything most of the time.

That's the "sorry looking" old black cow that I previously posted pics of.

My opening bid is $100 if it's a heifer! Medic, we have coyotes also, but never hear of them getting the calves. Of course people are leary with them being around. It was reported last year that buzzards killed a couple calves that were slow to get up by pecking their eyes out. Supposedly they sense the cow is in labor, and they are waiting for the afterbirth. My doubts are that the calf was born dead, they might be blaming the buzzards. I would make sure it was up and nursing before I walked away mostly if I sensed it being slow about getting up. If it had afterbirth over it's head, I am sure the buzzards would pull the afterbirth off if it had suffocated, which would make it appear to have been OK. Has anyone heard of this happening before? I would like to think they are mistaken.

Nice Dun! I really like the calf in your avatar too! It is super cute! One of the 1st heifers I bought (she's my baby  ) just had her 3rd calf on Saturday. I say it just as it was being born. They are so cute when they are just trying to stand and they topple over backwards and on theor nose. Then they get their little feet under them and they are just wobbling and shaking. They all of a sudden they get it and off they go with momma. It's great!!!!

I saw this, with my own eyes, last year where I work. They were calves that were born in the fall calving group. The "cattle guy" brought 2 of them in that were still alive, what an awful sight. The buzzards had shredded the butts and pecked the heck out of their faces. One calf dies from the injuries, the other survived. Another had been pecked to death.

Sorry to get "off topic".
