To be fair, they only got suspended for one day. I assume passing the video around without permission is against the rules, and that's the consequences for doing so.

I wonder where the kid lean to act like that? I truly feel for the cops.

You and me both. Need to get the cop a badge that says “cool daddy” or something like that bc he held it together really well. Don’t you know he wanted to snatch that little entitled punk out by his hair and slap him around like a little schoolyard sissy?

Now that I got that out of the way, I’m asking this question all seriousness..... what, when, where, why and/or how, does a person assume that it’s ok to talk to another person in this manner? Forget about the fact that it’s his elder, an authority figure, etc. How can a human brain think this is ok?

I coined a phrase about 15 years ago.... ‘A lot of people take advantage of my generosity not to slap the shyt out of them every time they open their mouth’

Not so Mike. In enforcement, you just ignore it. It is almost surreal. Like you are watching a video. An example:

I was inspecting a coal mine in Martin County Ky. A very large, national company. They had a large sedimentation basin. The emergency spillway and the primary spillway were both obstructed by debris from a several day storm event. I was being escorted on the mine by the superintendent. After the inspection, I told him that I was issuing a Cessation Order on the mine until the "Significant Imminent Threat" was eliminated. The superintendent said he could not accept the CO. He said it had to be issued to the Operations Manager. I was taken to the OM's office where I proceeded to inform him of the circumstances. The OM threw a tantrum. He cussed me for 10 minutes. There is not one four letter word that he did not use. He threatened to have me fired. Claimed that he knew every member in the US Senate and had lunch with the Director of OSM. I stood in absolute silence until he was exhausted. Then I very politely ask if he would acknowledge service of the CO. He said f+++ no. I wrote on the signature line that the company refused to sign for service. I placed the order on his desk in front of him. He picked it up and threw it in the trash can. I did an about face and walked out with the superintendent. The next day they had the pond fixed.

When it is in the performance of your job, most enforcement personnel just don't take it personal. The ones that do - need to get out.

Do not blame the kid - blame his parent(s).

Far too common today.

Take him out back and kick the schitte out of him.

Cheers

Used to be talking to a cop like that would get you a free ride, car towed and maybe a butt whooping when you landed at the jail house because they would also speak to a jailer in that manner. Used to be the courts would find the defendant guilty of disorderly conduct for talking to a cop like that. Nowadays, the courts have ruled that it's not disorderly conduct to speak that way because a cop is not an ordinary citizen and couldn't be offended by that language. Back then there were not as many snowflakes in this world as there are now.

I will throw one more comment out there. Too some degree his parents are to blame. They raised him. BUT, at 22, he is old enough to know how to act regardless of how he was raised. There’s comes a point in time that you reach an age of accountability. I bet he didn’t talk to the teachers at school like that. This sort of thing right here gets under my skin worse than just about anything. Respect is free. So is cleaning up. Doesn’t cost a thing.

I'd jam a bar of soap in his mouth to clean it up.

I agree. The 'mommy didn't love me/daddy didn't hug me' thing only goes so far and so does the "His parents are responsible for his actions as an adult'.

Plenty of young adults overcame horrible parenting and plenty of young adults that were raised in perfect homes by loving caring 'traditional' parents still turned out to be spawn of satan once they got out in the real world.
