the best place to sell fats?

i feed out 3 to 4 hundred head of cattle a year and have allways just taken them to the local sales barn, i was just wondering if selling direct to the packers is a better way, or more profitable way of doing it?

anytime you can sell direct off of the farm you will be $ ahead

Make sure you have some idea how these cattle will ''cut'' before you put them all on a grid sale. The good thing about the ''barn'' is there is a mkt. for all the classes of fat cattle.

In addition to what they will cut, you will want to know what the plant average is you will be selling against on the grid.
