Texas, opening day rifle season.

Help Support CattleToday:

Deer season closed here almost 3 weeks ago. The majority of the bull elk seasons close tomorrow. Just those people with long season cow elk tags left to hunt. Or calling coyotes or hunting birds, lots of that available.

We're hunting our ranch in Coleman County.
Son took a cull four point with his bow this morning.
It's warm, but we are seeing deer.
Nephews saw 3 bucks today.... two weren't quite wide enough; the third was legal but pencil horned . The legal buck was trailing a doe.

Yesterday was first day of muzzleloader... have had some bow season already. Muzzleloader is Nov 2-15th and then rifle season for 2 weeks through Thanksgiving.. some other extended times after that for certain things. I don't get into it like I used to. Just wish they would allow more doe days, we are overrun with them still. 2 new ones killed on the road, within 3 miles of the house. There will be 1 or 2 a week for the next month killed on the road here.... and then we see at least 1 or 2 a month the rest of the year... all within a couple miles up and down this road.
Days are unusually warm here so far, nights have been getting down to 40's... Sun, lt breeze and DRY...

Had to run to lowes last night and on the way back, in the few miles around the house after dark, we lost count of the amount of deer. Muzzle loader starts this weekend.
