Tear In Eyes

Have a 6-month-old steer that grinds his teeth and gets tears in his eyes when he is tied up high for grooming. He is a very friendly steer with a calm disposition – not wild at all and likes to be around us humans. We have had several steers in the past and this is the first one that gets tears in his eyes. Is this normal or do we have a potential issue ? I should also mentioned that we are in the process of getting him halter broke he will grind his teeth while leading him.

Thanks is advance.

It sounds to me like a disposition thing rather then health. He's PO'ed about being made to do something he doesn't really like doing. When he settles in to it and decides it's not a bad deal I would think he'ld settle down and quit the teeth grinding which is probably whats causing the eye watering. That is, as long as the halter isn't irritating the eye.
