It's that time of year again. More than ever the gov. needs money. If you have never been audited believe me you don't want to go there. Small business is a target. Small business and have a farm BIG BIG Target, according to my good buddy the tax auditor. :roll: It is getting to the point you need to lie and say you made a profit. :lol2:

By the way if you think a check showing an expense is good enough you are wrong. If you do not have the receipt, no right off. :(

He thought he had seen enough when we caught the gomer bull, named kick stand, working on a cow.
 
I asked an ex IRS man once if I had to keep the receipts in order. He told me just to write the invoice numbers on the checks and put the receipts in a box. When they ask for them hand them the box. I hope they have plenty of time because I keep a big box. You also have to keep any computer equipment and /or programs that you used to do your bookwork on or with for seven years according to the IRS.

I'm sure they would be happy to see what they can find in a box of receipts. :nod:

Never give them more than they ask for...
