It was quite an evening, the late light makes for great color. The sunset was spectacular, I couldn't quit snapping! Glad to share, glad you enjoyed. :tiphat:

Why did they fall out of favor?

Tarentaise cattle up here in Canada are pretty well extinct. If they were poor cattle no loss, see ya later bye, but from a maternal standpoint, fertility, udder quality, feet and legs, and longevity, they are very good cows. In addition they are so be nice beautiful, to me, I just love looking at them. We only have about 40 and of course they are not all center fold cows but, as a group they are really good functional cattle. An Angus Tarentaise cross cow is awfully hard to beat assuming the quality is present on both sides. Glad you like the sunset pic, in real time is was spectacular, I had to share.
MO_cows":29vyk17y said:Amen! The Tarentaise genetics that are left in North America are precious, I think, because back in France they have been selected for more milk, more milk and today they look like a typical dairy cow, bag of bones and a huge udder. It's a real head scratcher why the breed isn't more popular - everybody likes them but nobody uses them! We have a few.
