Swollen testicles

I just banded a calf about a month ago with a cheerio band and his testicles have swollen to the size of a softball. They have also turned red and must have an infection. It looks like it would be very painful, but the calf acts completely normal. I found an earlier post about this with a little information. I will take it to the vet soon. Has anybody had this happen and did you do anything that was helpful?

Next time check your cheerios real good. Toss the ones with cracks in them, they don't get tight enough to do the job right. If you keep your bands in the refrigerator they will last longer without getting weak.

Get the calf some vet attention with some antibiotics and he should be fine.

I had this happen to a bull. Band busted and the sack tried to grow again. Hard as a baseball. Cut it off with a knofe and carterized it. Sold him two weeks later.
