Swollen head, bulging eyes, heifer

Have yearling heifer, lump started on side of jaw, quickly spread to swelling of entire head, aborted calf in approximately 6th month, now eye bulging, also weight loss. Penicillin doesn't seem to show any improvement. Has anyone had any similar experience, or know what might be the cause? Thanks

Could be osteomyelitis, severe lumpy jaw or cancer--bovine leukosis caused by a virus for example. Ask your vet.

Thank you Vicki, I think it's most likely lumpy jaw... the swelling seems to be subsiding now, with just swelling on the outside of the jaw.
