SWEET TAIL

A friend of mine has about 250 steers on ryegrass. Out of the whole bunch there's one calf that all the others ride continuously, relentlessly, all the time. He's been ridden so much that all the hair is rubbed off his rump and now a big pocket of fluid has formed from his tail-head 8 or 10 inches up his back bone. We had an order buyer tell us that this calf was afflicted with a condition call "Sweet Tail". I never had heard of that before and honestly have never seen a group of steer calves pick out one in the herd and just ride him all the time. What causes this condition?
