Years ago we used ground cob corn, but it has become very hard to find.
Using DDG was all the rage for a while, but now it is priced like SBM for the protein content.
What comes next for folks who do not have a TMR?

Have you considered soybean hulls? Some of the research shows it can match corn for supplementing yearlings on pasture.

I'm not a feed guy, but soy hulls are over 200 a ton here. I was told that cheapest energy is straight corn up here now.

Lots of wet low test weight corn here after the monsoon season, and some of it got chopped. So I think corn silage would be the cheapest if you can deal with a lot of bulk w/o a TMR.
