Summer is coming

I've lived in the north and I've lived in the south, I never venture north by choice from September to May by choice
I don't really consider Oregon north. That would be because I worked in Alaska which is certainly north. I have never "lived" in the south. But I have spent several months at a time down there. My choice is to never go back there again. The hot days in the summer we get as hot here as you do down there. Just for shorter length of time. What we don't have is humidity that you can cut with a knife. Our hot summer days the humidity will be 15-20% which is much more live able for me.
It is 80 here today. The wife is planting her garden. She came in and said it is too hot to be planting the garden. She also saw a rattle snake on the edge of the garden (it made it under the fence into tall grass before she could get her shovel). First one we have seen this year. Don't see any of those during the winter.

WeatherBug says 90 right now, but a great breeze and the sun is down. Humidity be damned-I have all windows and doors open and it is quite comfortable.

I'm an 'inbetween' summer and winter. As long as it's warm without boiling and not cold with freezing. I'm a Mosquito magnet, so you understand why not the boiling hot. =D
But I agree, it's sure nice to have winter finally behind us. Last week my tomatoes froze, I think we are pass the frost now.

One of the things we have is the daily temperature swing. When it is upper 80's during the day it drops back to the 50's at night. The humidity works the other way. It will get up to 60% during the night and drop back to the 20%'s during the day. We are way beyond small enough that they don't list weather for us. The closest weather is for Baker City. That is 25 miles to the northwest. And there is a line of mountains between us. It is also at an elevation of about 3,600 feet. We are lower at 2,700 feet. So you take the weather forecast and add about 4 or 5 degrees

Here in KY, we get some of all of it.
It gets cold in the winter, and can get hot in the summer too. Generally speaking most summer days are in the 80's. Some years we'll have some 90 and above days, with a few days of 100.
Cold temperatures with humidity can make it pretty miserable. We get a lot of cold rain and of course mud.
If it gets down around 0 and single digits for very long it can really cause problems with things freezing.
On a personal note, the last few years my hands have got to where if it is under 40 they really hurt. I have to wear heavy insulated gloves and if very much colder than 40 I have had some heated gloves but they don't hold up well at least the ones I've had.
I'll take the warm weather any day over cold weather.

We've had frost 7 of the last 8 nights and looks like 1 or 2 more forecast. Fairly typical UP weather. Had to cover the garden in mid June more times than I can remember. Ha
You'd be all out of sorts if you lived here. Besides the late frost fiasco, you'd probably sheet your britches when the temp and humidity both hit 100 before May is done.

That's okay, because I'm a puzz and can't handle nor manage snow. I can't even scrape my windshield without cursing.

Just like you southern folks sheet your britches when you get a freeze or snow. Yall act like the world is ending while us northern folks are having a campfire and picnic when it's 0° and 2 foot of snow falling. Haha

I had a co-worker over in Washington. He went to Tampa Bay to visit some relatives of his wife. It was 75 out. Now on the WA coast where he is from 75 is a pretty nice day. He decided it would be a good time to go for a swim. So he did. The locals were walking on the beach wearing coats wondering who is this crazy guy out swimming in this weather. He was enjoying his swim and the water was way warmer than it ever is on the WA coast.

I can't believe there are people and animals can survive in places where it gets and stays over 90F for days at a time. But I sure am glad there are or they would be up here where we don't have that nonsense.
I've been saying the opposite, I'm glad there are folks that can tolerate the cold areas, I don't think Florida and the rest of the south could sustain everybody.
My hats off to y'all up there, y'all make it work and do a great job of it.

One thing is for sure, you won't ever see me down in you part of the world between April and December 😂
