Summer garden 2021

Help Support CattleToday:

My garden 1st picture and my 85 yo mothers garden in the second picture are pretty much fully planted as a lot just coming up and in a week will show a full garden. I have ate radishes and onions out of mine already. My water melons are coming up, potatoes the frost put a hurting on are starting to come around again.

My garden today.

My 85 yo mothers garden today she keeps clean. I had buckets over 29 pepper plants and the frost fried, so I replanted for her. She has cucumbers, okra, sunflowers, water melon's, 1/2 runners, Oregon sugar pod peas, mustard, peaches and cream corn etc. coming up. Her tomato plants are blooming.

Broccoli heading out and should be ready in 2-3 weeks. Cabbage starting to make a head and should be ready before long.

I have 6 rows of corn coming up.

Your corn is looking good
ISO good soaking rain..
Your garden makes mine look sick. Colder weather and the lack of rain mine is at a stand still. It should have a good root system if it rains in time to save it. Counting the plants, fertilizer, chemicals, etc. I have around $120 in my broccoli alone in cost and was hoping to fill a freezer. Now a small head here and a small head there, pretty much a lost cause.

Thanks.. it's still early and summer heat ain't on it so it may look bad yet. Sorry it's been rough for you. Can you irrigate?

Doing a little watering, but it needs rain. A good rain, which there is little in the forecast, it would turn around fast at this point.

We've been unusually cool (not complaining)-okra came up but it's waiting for the heat. My dad's potatoes and tomatoes were doing ok, now they've got wet feet and are protesting. Strange weather for us in central Texas

My son builds fences. I remember that he built a 10 foot tall high tensile fixed knot deer fence for someone who had deer (inside the fence). Pretty expensive I am sure and requires 10 foot stretcher bars. Here is the ultimate - elk fence 23120-3. 23 horizontal strands, 120 inches tall, 3 inches between verticals. Would take me a few hours to tie those knots on the ends - 3" spacing working from a ladder.
10' deer fence here is $12 per ft. No trees or underbrush. Says the neighbor

I planted 2 varieties of corn one variety has tassled out already
