Hmmmmm.....interesting. Yesterday, I had an interesting convo with someone that reminded me that in all of history all empires has failed. No empire has ever ruled the world..... United States is an empire and is on the road to failure.

Someone once told me that Communism should come first before Democracy....she didn't explain why but in order for any government to be successful, communism comes first than democracy. I think she got these words from Karl Marx, the founder of Communism.

PS Democracy will fail in Iraq. Iraq is a full fledged muslim country that is strict to their tradtional radical ways... I can't believe Bush would compare with Turkey to Iraq last week. He quoted the successful examples of Turkey in converstion to democracy....remember Turkey is still an Muslim country and has their terrorist groups, which they seems to ignore... He failed to state that UAE (United Arab Emigrates) one of the most deomocratic nation in the Middle East and is the most INTERNATIONALIZED nation of the Middle East....they believed in free, global trading (even smuggling is legal). Why he fail to mention UAE? Because UAE's oil revenue is about 7%, they earn the rest through TRADING! The world around should set their eyes on the success of Dubai...one of the most modern and cosmopolian city in the world...

Dubai has the only seven star hotel in the world (hotel looks like a sailboat, also hotel is one of the largest)
Dubai is the future site of the Palm (island neighborhood. The island will be shaped like a palm tree).

Lost track from the orginal point so I will stop.

BTW, I got those facts about UAE from a show called "Globe Trekker" (a cute girl is the host).

The main reason I posted the article was because of the 2000 election statistics!!

I thought they were pretty eye opening
Interesting facts Muldoon. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

I've always been a strong believer that less government= more freedom.
The conservatives believe in less government. If a person wants to join a commune or be a homosexual, I don't care. Go off and do whatever you like. It's a free country. The socialists are a selfish bunch. They set up programs and you and your tax money are going to participate and you have no say. They want to force me to accept gay marriage and give those people all the same rights my wife and I have, and they shove that down your throat and you have no choice because thats their agenda and everyone is forced to accept the way they think. If i had my way, I'd opt out of the Canada health plan and take my chances paying for health insurance where I control my own premiums based on how much medical attention I need. Instead I'm forced to throw my tax money in the pot to support some welfare case who has nothing better to do than run to the doctor everytime she has a sniffle or an ache. My cousin is a doctor, she says the majority of people who come to her are people who want someone to talk to and have nothing better to do with their time than to hang around a waiting room. Our taxes go up and our level of service goes down. People up here die while sitting in the emergency room sometimes 10-12 hours to see a doctor because the doctors are too busy dealing with people who aren't sick. Its a lousy system but the socialists like it and I'm along for the ride. I think we, as Canadians, are farther down the path than you. We already have a virtual dictatorship. Over ten years with the same government. Corrupt as they are, the easterners keep electing them. The socialists breed like rabbits up here. They have no ambition and thus no reason to control their fertility. I believe that the system can't keep going as it is. The social programs will have to topple eventually from lack of funds. Baby boomers are aging and retiring and I'm right at the back end. Not only have I not had the job opportunities, because there has always been someone with a few more years experience than me, I've also had to pay more taxes to support these welfare people and retirees. Every generation seems to get dumber and have less common sense than the one before. We need to get some of these kids working with those strong backs instead of giving them an option to retire to welfare in their twenties. If communism is the way we're going, you guys better keep democracy strong because i'll be movin' south. Whew, i feel better now. Not even that far off topic.

Texan, get off my back.....where do you go off calling me an Oreo... Don't know what the hell it even means!

I think you are a bit confuse by the definition of socialism. Socialism doesn't mean to give money away. Socialism means everyone gets equal pay or proportion regardless to their profession. Take China as an example (or affectionally known as Socialist's Party of China).....people will work 8-10 hours a day whether they work for a mine or a factory, stand in the food line, get the same food as their neighbors, at the end of the week, they get paid the same as everyone else does... Its not a bad system except there should be variaties..different food for different diets, different pays for the more skilled (almost like Democracy except not nearly as corrupted). The only problem with Socialism is the number of wealthy is very small, selective fews...you can't come from a mine and be a millionaire... In Socialism, you have to be a millionaire to begin with.. Additionally, you can't own properties (that recently changed as China is now granting private property to private citizens...a simple sign of changes to Democracy in China). Well tahts all I know about socialism.. Please stop calling me Oreo. Thanks.

So does an office worker get paid the same as a "ditch digger" the same as a doctor the same as a farmer under Socialism?

So when would that be...before Socialism is enacted?
