The military are struggling to get new soldiers possibly the influx of Iraq war. I know they said its the hardships of Iraq and Afghanistan but I am having hard time believing it is due to both wars. I, personally, think the numbers are down because of the outcome of Iraq war. If there was no Iraq war, our military numbers would had skyrocketed! Everyone wants to put lead in bin Laden's skinny arse! Tehy aren't interested in oil fields or bunch of desertbeggers..they want BIN LADEN!

There's another angle to look at. Alot of people use the military, either active duty, reserves or the guard, to pay for their education. This enticement does not look as attractive when they may have to serve in a war zone.

Here again Oreo you have no idea what your talking about, the USAF is currently offering enlisted men to opt out. They are nearly 20,000 overstaffed since 9/11.

I did my time in the U.S. Army from 1990 until 1992. I didnt get to shoot anyone though. If they want more people in the army, then they will have to pay them more. Many married soldiers with families are surviving on food stamps and WIC.

That's another real reason. Its also why the military is losing some of its best trained people who have been in for awhile. They can make a whole lot more in the private sector.

Bunch of Commy media BS

The military has more they they can handle right now in tr=erms of enlistments and folks they are training and young people comming out of college with degrees going to Officers training

We have employees here at TAMU, that were in the reserves called into active service to serve with their experience to fill possitions of leadership and coordination, organization over in Iran and Afganistan, huge efforts to improve the quality of agriculture, human health services, etc. and they are hiring private sector folks at $70,000 per anum, to work in a construction capacity,

they can't get enough good workers from over their to rebuild that sh** hole, it will be the best it ever was, but it is like building a new home for blacks who live in slums, they didn't earn it and didn't work to build it, thus they don't respect the effort or trouble and it will turn to Shi* before we even leave there

Eric,

Do you relize that you and Greenpasture are at a serious disadvantage here on this board? Why don't you try http://www.breedersworld.com. There is a message board there. Strike up a conversation with a guy named Blackwhiteface. He will be more open to your opinions. Then come back here and share what you learned.

My guess is that Michell is VERY well educated and strong willed, if not a little hardheaded. There is no way that you will be able to sway her vote by your rantings. Why don't you enlist and support your country? For that matter, I don't reckon you will be able to sway anyone's vote here.

Have a good day

Michelle you are right we should be helping IRAN and AFGHANISTAN not the shi..hole country they call Iraq! Last night 51 more people died from suicide bombers.....when will the bloodshed end? The suicide bombings would settle down if only King GW Bush would apologizes the the public of the world for his blatant lies...yes he DID lies even to you conservatie Republicans and hard headed Texans/Louisians.... If the numbers like that keep going there would lots of empty mud houses in Iraq...is it worth the millions of dollars to build empty houses? Plus we will be building houses for newcoming terrorists and their families from other country like Syria and Iran. They were not there before when Saddam ruled, but when we captured him, the flock of bad apples came!

The numbers had gone up to 68 dead.....I wish GW Bush would stop to think about all those poor kids blown to pieces and all the kids who are suddenly orphaned because some idiot didn't like our presence in Iraq.... We are not winning the psychological war....many people of Iraq will be so scared of the bombings that they will grown to hate America and will kill us at any chance they can....they were once friendlies but lost someone in suicide bombing, they will grow upset and attempt to kill us.... As I said, we may have won the war but did not win the battle....it is becoming very much like Vietnam!

And you know this because you were there, and saw how these people acted and talked w/ them and jotted down their comments to relay to us here on the board, right?

Yes, it is worth it. We didn't want to go to Iraq just to kill some innocent people, we wanted to free them from a tyrant and help them form a stable and efficient government. If the new Iraqi government didn't want us there, they would have asked us to leave. GP, are you suggesting that we all bow down to a few fanatic terrorists who kidnap and kill? That is the exact reason that we SHOULD be there!

I mourn the loss of any life, especially our troops who are helping a people whom they don't know. I respect their courage and am honored to be an American. When I hear comments about "is it worth it" to help someone else I realize how far we have fallen from good Christian morals.

I keep hearing people like GP refering to Iraq as another Veitnam. What do they know about Veitnam? They weren't even alive back then. This is nothing like Veitnam. Are there troops from North Iraq packing weapons down the Sadam Hussein trail? If there is any one similarity it is a media selling the idea that we are some how losing.

after reading a few of greenpastures rantings and ravings, the few that I can stomach without puking, I am of the opinion that he has no morals, much less good Christian Morals.

Certherd...I just reread the terms of membership for this forum, and nowhere did it state that you had to be a card carrying republican in order to join this forum. I am not trying to "sway" anyone in here. Are you saying that if someone doesn't think like you do, then they should abandon the forum? No wonder you like Bush so much, he feels that if he doesn't like something either, then it should be outlawed, i.e. pornographic material and stemcell research. I've never told you to leave just because your opinion differs from mine. There must be folks who want a change or else there would be no reason to hold an election come November.

Go join the service and serve my country?? Where did that come from?

This is the best forum going and I love to learn about cattle and appreciate the chance to drift away from cattle talk that Macon gives us! How boring would this world be if we all said / agreed on the same issues all the time?

And for the record, I have never said anyone, much less Michelle, is uneducated. But then again I also havent called anyone hardheaded either.

GP and Eric.

I have a very simple question for you. When terrorists came to the States and blew up the World Trade Center, that was a first strike. I believe that if the US wasn't fighting a war in the Middle East, it would be fighting one at home. If this was the case, would you fight to defend your country and way of life or would you lay down your arms and live under a terrorist regime? If you would fight for your freedom and your country, what difference does it make whether you are fighting here or in the Middle East? If you would live under a terrorist regime without fighting, then I don't think there is much hope for you. I find it funny how all the socialists are always spouting off about their rights, yet they are adamantly opposed to the army and the war that is being fought to protect those very rights and freedoms that they are so fond of.

These socialist liberals want it handed to them on a Silver Platter and for them to do nothing to deserve it.
Sure they would lay down and live under a terrorist regime.
To them that would be the politically correct thing to do.
They think their rights are guaranteed to them, and they can't be taken away.

Eric,

I never told you to leave. I simply stated that there are people on other boards that would be more open to your ideas. If you remember I asked you to come back and share what you learned.

And by hardheaded I meant "set in her ways". And I'm sure Michelle knows that.

I have never been rude or disrespectful to either you or Greenpasture.

Have a nice day

but only if the terrorist regime allows them to keep their pornography & listen to howard stern. (i'm not sure why these rights are more important than the ones the demos want to take away........gun control for one)

these guys are as full of contradictions as kerry himself. they talk about freedom but don't think we should spend money on an army or the fight for our freedoms. oh yes, their rationalization is that this is iraq, not afghanistan. well, the truth is they're right, it is iraq, but to think that saddam himself was not a threat to the usa is to turn a blind eye to the fact that he was. not only was he a direct threat himself but also in his abetting terrorists and their causes.

saddam was given ample opportunity to open up for the weapons' inspectors but he chose to play cat-and-mouse and didn't take the threat of occupation seriously. so we make a threat and don't stand behind it? what happens the next time? he laughs at us because he thinks we don't mean it & by this time he has continued to build up his army & his weapons & his arsenal.
