Yes, you should either amoniate(sorry for spelling) the straw to add protien or just give them supplemental feed so they get what they need out of it. Jake

yes, but only if you have enough nutritional value but not enough structure in the ration. straw brings good structure, but nutritional value is very low. it's a common practice in highly productive dairies, where the feed misses structure.
