We haven't seen a bear and have never had one on the place . There has been sightings locally over the last few years so that's one I haven't considered. That's interesting farmerjan !

I'd say the dogs or coyotes were the culprit. That's a lot of garden damage, but I suspect a bear would have 'disassembled' the trap to get at the possum rather than make the possum appear as if he had been in a washing machine with a couple shovel-fulls of dirt during the spin cycle and the machine shut off before the rinse cycle commenced.
