Strange Condition in 2 week old calf -Help please!

Help Support CattleToday:

Look in the calf's mouth, at the hard palate. It sounds like there may be a split in it which would cause exactly these signs. It's not likely very big, since the calf is still alive. This is called a cleft palate.

I checked the the roof of the calf's mouth and it's smooth and appeared normal to me. There isn't any split or hole that I could feel in this area. Any other ideas? I gave him a shot of vitamins and a couple cc's of depocillin. He has a mild cough. He's still strong and active.
