steer butchering costs

Help Support CattleToday:

We pay $55 for the on farm slaughter and 38 cents for cut & wrap...freezing is included. This is from the same guy that we've been using for years, alot of places are even higher.

I think it is $25.00 slaughter charge and .39 cents a pound cut & package. Extra of course for jerky and special items.
Ours even has a pick up service which is great. In fact he picked some up yesterday!

The guy that does ours, charges $50 kill fee and $.40 cut/wrap. He does come out and slaughters which is included in the $50. Save me having to get the animal to him.

The folks I have been using the last couple of years have the vacuum pack option or the traditional paper wrap. There is a difference in price. Tenderizing round steak is free there whereas other places I used in the past charged extra for that.

Anyway, your cut sheet specifications can make a difference in price.

No one has on farm slaughter around here, anymore. I take the beef in and they slaughter it and charge 39 cents per pound and it has to be frozen when it leaves the locker

We pay $35 slaughter fee and .45 a pound frozen and tenderized near phoenix.
