Neighbors 800lbs steer got out of his fence and came to my place. I put him in with my steers, and called neighbor to tell him I had his steer. Five weeks later, he came and got the steer, now wants to settle up. I've been feeding free choice hay and 8-10lbs of grain per day. He's a good neighbor, if it was a week I would not charge. What is the going rate for boarding cattle.

Five weeks , did he have a good reason or just procrasting? figure your out of pocket cost,no labor because you were feeding with yours. 800 lbs x 3% boby wt = 24 lbs hay a day x .05 lb = $1.20 for hay , 10 lb grain x .17 lb = 1.70 aday or $1.20 + $ 1.70 = $2.90 total a day. that is what it would cost here. 5 weeks = 35 days x $2.90 = $101.50 total charges
