Not far from us there are pastures of thick green grass. We stopped to ask what it was.
They said it was sprig.
We are in East Texas.
We seen them blow it with a machine this summer.

My question is. Is there a grass called sprig?
I am thinking "You sprig coastal, etc."

i think what they was telling you is that they sprigged that pasture.if you plant any kind of costal your planting spriggs.takes 30 or 40 bu to sprigg an ac.

The man said it was "sprig". I don't know the name of the machine, but you see them on highways. They blow the seed where they have done ground work and before long grass is coming up.

Yes it is very green, thick, and tall.
I will try and get a picture today.

Horses are eating it. The cows are not on it yet.

I am not good telling which grass is which. It looks like bermuda to me.

The green stuff they spray on the side of the road here looks like a cross between Johnson grass and Elbon rye.

Could it hace been Jiggs. Jiggs ia a variety of bermuda just like Coastal or Tifton 85 or common bermuda. None of the bermudas should be green now.

This is not a very good picture.
Up close it looks more like a rye grass.

I don't know why the guy said it was sprig.
I knew it wasn't bermuda. I just meant it kind of looked like it from a distance.

Thanks
