Has anyone used Velpar L for Smutgrass control? It used to have a 90 day grazing restriction, but now it has no restrictions. I need to do something, or I will be discing and planting a couple of my pastures in the near future. I have a 10 acre bull pasture I might use as a guinea pig to try it on. Just wondering how much it costs. It has to be cheaper than a pasture renovation.

Last I bought was $60/gal. Don't know the rate for smutgrass but I plan on spot spraying a few hills of it. I know a gallon will kill an acre of oaks on sand without much problem but your really need rain within two weeks of application to get the biggest bang for your buck.

Chec the label for rate to use based on soilt type. Calibrate your sprayer to put out a minimum of 25 gallons of mix per acre.
