A friend got ahold of a singleshot shotgun. It is stamped spencer gun company. No local dealers or gunsmiths have seen one. Does anyone know anyting about these? It looks pretty old

its a breech loader, break action it doesn't have a stamp that says a guage but looks like a 12

Guns with the name "Spencer" were built by several manufacturers around 1900.

Various researchers have attributed them to Bannerman, Crescent, Hopkins & Allen, Baker, and Belgian imports.

Value will be $50-$75 for a functioning single shot.

Spencer developed the first "pump" shotgun in the late 1800's.
