that reminds me of when I was a kid, my two brothers and two of their friends, got a box of fireworks, emptied out the gunpowder and rammed it into a piece of drain pipe, put into the ground and set a fuse, when it went off it, went through the side of the railway cutting bank which was made of railway sleepers. the bang sounded like a bomb going off, everyone came out of their houses to see what happened. Someone asked if an unexploded bomb from the war had gone off, we kids were hiding, but were all grounded for a month when we were finally caught. Lucky we did not kill anyone. or derail a train.
