Our Hispanic neighbor is going to feed for us while we are on vacation. He's a really nice guy, and he tries, but he is not quite fluent in English......So can anybody help me. I took Spanish in HS, but I can't say: feed the heifers this and that etc. Give me a pm. Please. Thanks.

I had an "interesting" conversation with a suspected illegal alien last week. When I arrived at a job site, he was the only person close to the spot that I was supposed to check. I asked him if he spoke english and he replied "no" and then he asked me if I spoke spanish in broken english . Of course I had to answer "no". He said it in such a way that I felt like it was my responsibilty to conform to his spoken language.

You know how it is when you get to thinking about what you should have said but didn't? I wished that I had reminded him that we were in the United States of America where english is the spoken language. Oh well!

Why Its Important To Understand English

I had a bunch of Canadian dollars I needed to
exchange, so I went to the currency exchange window at
the local bank.

Short line.

Just one lady in front of me. . .an Asian lady who was
trying to exchange yen for dollars and she was a
little irritated . .

She asked the teller, "Why it change?? Yesterday, I
get two hunat dolla fo yen. Today I get hunat eighty??
Why it change?"

The teller shrugged his shoulders and said,
"Fluctuations".

The Asian lady says, "Fluc you white people, too!"

La imigra? or la migra?????? doesnt that mean immigration? You could try that on your feed guy and see if he runs. This way if he does then you know he is an illegal and shouldnt have hired him in the first place. That would be the first step and then you can go from there. Just like on the job site if that guy had done this then he would have known for sure as to whether or not the guy was an illegal or not.
Is does NOT work for me. He is just a kind neighbor.

nothing wrong with a neighbor doin neighborly things. but if i was in this situation, i would try and find another neighbor just to avoid this confusion. JMHO.

I have heard that one before but it still makes me laugh.

Chris love the monkey.

Back to the original post write everything down in plain English have every single minor detail written down even the stupidist little thing. Then walk him through with you and go over the list do this a couple of times.I guarantee once he does it with you he will get it.The man is not stupid it is just a little language barrier.Make sure he has an emergency number for someone that can come out and help if there are problems.Let this contact know they need to come over ASAP if they get a phone call from him.If he has kids I am sure they will be able to translate your notes to him.
