Decided to try creep feeding this year. Done it in the past, mixed results. Mainly calves got fleshy. One feed store suggested using soy hulls. Less protein and starch/energy (don't remember exactly what he said). Said some guys are doing it, but still recomend creep. Kinda makes sense. My creep is a pelleted product of hulls and mids, maybe a touch of ddg but not soposed to be. It has some cob also I guess. 15% protein and 48-52 energy. Info I have found on soyhulls is 12% and 54 neg. Not sure if hulls is the answer. Im going to start with creep. If they start to pig out then thinking about switching. I know conversation will be a tick less most likely. Creep is $315 and 5 to 1, hulls $280 and 5-6 to 1, guess. Gain will cost more on hulls, but if the don't get fleshy it might be worth while. Not sure if its going to be better or not. Never been around hulls.
