I've got an opportunity to pick up some bred South poll 3 yr old cows.
I raise all black and some baldies about half registered half commercial. The way I market, I sell most my steers in fall after weaning. Hold my nice heifers to yearlings and sell as replacements. You'll never have trouble sell a group of blk angus heifers and for good money.

Not trying to sound bias, I'm trying to figure how people market these red cows? They must avoid sale barns cause they'll get hammered there.
I know folks are going into these smaller red cows for some kind of "grass efficiency" so is grass-fed beef sales the only chance for marketing those calves for any money?

Would you throw some south poll or similar reds in? Has any one ever run a BA bull on them?

If your selling through the stockyards grow as many pounds of black calves as you can raise. The heifers will be much easier to sell as replacements also. The South Pole aren't bad cattle but the marketing is the better part.
