Sold the first calf of the season

Sold the first calf of the season today 7 almost 8 months, weighed 685, brought $1.975 per lb. I would say I got a pretty nice check, even after commission. I have 8 more bull calves to sell, so I hope they stay up. Slaughter cows were bringing over $1k a head.
Him a couple weeks ago. Momma is almost 15.

i sent 2 cows monday that went to slaughter for $1500ea.i sure dont see cow or calf prices going down in the next 15yrs or so.

i bought a reg bred heifer 2wks ago for $2400.and im hoping that they dont go up to much in the next 6 months.because i dont want to give $3000 less i have to.

diesel, I watched Holsteins bring over 1k per head, and that's crazy here lol. I watched a pitiful longhorn x heifer with no bag and a calf bring over $2100!! I don't think you could've paid me to put her in my pasture. But I'm praying they stay up so I can make some good $$$$.

Sold five longhorns calves this week, 3 males & 2 heifers for $1.30 a pound, weights averaging about 500 pounds.

I wish. They are longhorns after all.

We got almost as much for these calves as we paid for the mamas with the calves at their side.

That's not that bad for longhorns! I bet you got a good check. I watched a few lh steers go by for around the same price you mentioned. They usually don't sell for much of anything here. I sold a heavily spotted lh x last summer that weighed 485 and brought $1.45 a lb.

I haven't got any to sell till probably next month I will have 3 but this is what my yard brought this week. I try to take my calves when they are right at 500 or a lil over.

Yea those prices work for me all day long lol I just hope they can stay that way my calving is about to start in a few weeks.
