Took some steers to the sale and received the following:
Black 520 lbs 115.00 598.00 , was out of a young heifer that got bred by a jersey bull at the house, Had the bull for jersey nurse cow and ones to be. Had one horn, banded both but never got the second off.
Blk 450 lbs 150.00 675.00 , was out of cow bought as third stage, not sure what she was bred to.
BWF 593 lbs avg. 130.00 1540.00, two hd

Not 2014 but it'll do.
I really miss 2014 cattle prices. :(

Me and you both. Do you cattlemen think they will be that high again? I personally don't see it but would love to be wrong.

Never say "never" but I'd love to see 5 weights around $160.

They are, just wait and see what your bred heifers bring. You've figured out the when and where to market TT.

Good point. I was thinking feeders.

We aren't seeing prices anywhere close to that good here in Virginia. I sold some nice 5 weight black bulls last week graded M1 that brought $1.14

Around here you'd have lost $0.25 just because they were bulls. I know it's not like that everywhere.

Yea these we just a few that had broken out when I was working them and didn't get banded. My 6 weight steers brought $1.165

Sold today in Staunton Va. Had 10 light weight heifers. These were mainly off first calf heifers that were already 7 mos bred so we pulled them 3 weeks ago. They will be calving back at less than 11 months.
7 @ 380 lbs 1.26 = 475.20 each.
3 @ 476 lbs 1.11 = 529.10.
We do not creep feed and they were by an easy calving bull and they weighed less than 70 lbs at birth. Not the best but not too bad.
Most all heifers that were in the 4wts were bringing 1.05 to 1.15 ; 5wts were 1.00 to 1.10.

Steers were: 3wts 1.30 to 1.50
4wts 1.15 to 1.30
5wts 1.20 to 1.40
6 and 7wts up to 1.30
several big pens of 8wts....60 @ 829 1.19;
59 @ 849 1.25;
58 @ 861 1.23.50.
Bulls were usually about .20-.25 less than the steers.

YES, I guarantee it! Records were made to be broken. Even Babe Ruth's record was broken.
I may not live to see it, but the record highs of cattle prices will be broken again one day.

Didn't look at it like that but very good point. Guess the only question is when it will occur.

I sold some last week
3 black steers avg. 548 lbs. at 1.30 = 712.84 each
1 yellow steer with 3'' horns out of a bred cow I bought 505 lbs. @ 1.20 = 606.00
3 heifers that I did not like or I would have kept them, 1 was so wild I thought she was going to kill herself loading her
avg. 462 lbs. @1.30 = 606.16
ALL of these heifers were 1/4 or less Brahman and the steers were 1/4 to 1/2 Brahman a couple of the steers I sure wish they would have been heifers 1 was a F1 out of gray Brahman and reg. Angus bull. Comparing what mine brought I don't see that much of a hit for the Brahmans cross.
Yellow steer had no Brahman in him maybe a little long horn somewhere down the way but who knows

yall seem to be forgetting that they have loosened the import restrictions a good bit in the last year or so....

that is positive downward pressure on meat prices....

Add me in there too! I miss those days!! Went from selling them for about $1000 a piece down to $600ish.

Our reds took over a 10 cent dock per 100. It hurts more now!
