Thanks for the video Aaron.
How did your simi X calves price/head compare to straight bred calves?
Did you hold any 2020 calves back to take to grass?
What other cross breeding changes r u planning for next year?

Was that fellow in the front there bidding? He was waving his hands around a lot. If it was over here he would have owned those calves now.

The first bunch was a mix of cross and straightbred Hereford.

The 2nd bunch of 3 was all Hereford.

The 4th group, 2 feathernecks, one was 1/2 Simm and the other was purebred Hereford out of first time heifer.

So basically zero difference in price.

Only kept back 14 good heifers for breeding next year and a bull. 3 of those heifers are Simm, so I might keep or sell as breds.

I still have my fall calves that I could grass, but I might lose one of my rented pastures next year, so they might just get sold in spring.

Our local Feeder sale on Saturday had about 450 head sold. I'd say about 80% were solid black calves. Herefords you could count on two hands. They ran about 10 to 20 cents below the blacks. Doesn't make a lot of sense when some are nice solid calves. But, that's what the market is demanding here.
