Those are about the prices we saw here last week. Got 1.20-1.27 for some black steers in the 550-630 wts . 1.41 for a single blk steer 405 lbs. Cull cows are in the 50-60's. Some steers were in the 90's and they said heifers were barely over 1.00. Going to spend some time at the market today and watch how things are doing. It has gotten dry and think the fall runs might be starting. We just rotated some to another section of grass and don't have to take them off til Nov. which is normal for us. Except for some bills coming due, don't have to ship anything right away. We seldom ship anything from Mid-Nov until after the first of the year because the prices are always weaker then. Much less interest from "hunting season through Thanksgiving and into Christmas holidays". Many sell in Dec to pay taxes, but they usually wind up getting less. This year it is a crap shoot, with the whole market. So since we don't sell as many in the fall as we used to, we are not pushing to sell any more right now. Thinking that the markets will pick up for spring and we should have some of these late 2019 spring calves weaned and ready to go for the spring 2020. Got the grass to hold most until November normally, and since that is the usual we won't panic and ship anything right now that we don't want to. Sent 10 last week that needed to be out of the way at the barn, and they will help pay a few things that are due now. Used to be we had to send x number in the fall and spring, but we have tried to get "ahead" a bit and can be more selective and wean and hold for a bit if it works out better. Have a few less rented places too and don't have those expenses anymore or the headaches that went along with them.

So a 560lb bull calf is bringing the same $ as a 700lb heifer... I wonder what a 700lb bull or steer would have brought at your sale.

OUCH, david1852, those prices are a bit lower than we are here and I thought we were getting low. Did any of them have any dairy in them? That is about .10 to .20 lower than what I was seeing today, and today's prices were about .10 to .25 lower than 2 weeks ago. I stayed at the sale for about an hour and saw a fairly good number of 350-500 lb calves, bulls and steers, go through. From .85 to 1.30 with the majority bringing 1.05 to 1.20's. A couple that looked like they had some dairy in them were in the .50-.80/lb range. There were quite a few bull calves in the 4-5 wts and they were about .90 to 1.15 for the most part. About .10 to .20 less than the steers which is pretty normal. I did not see any heifers as they are sold after the steers, then they sell the bulls and pound (cull) cows last. There were no "head cows" or cow/calf pairs.

All I sold were black angus except for the 1 Char. No dairy mix.
Everything other than black angus sold at a much lower price. There were about 400+ total that went through the sale.

There were about 850 at the sale yesterday here. Up from 5-600 the last several weeks. It is getting dry, there was a few pop up showers here the other day, we got .6 at the house but only a bare ground wetting 5 miles away. Supposed to have some showers yesterday and today but it's only sprinkled. The fall runs will start as it dries up more. No real sign of rain in the forecast now.
I am hoping that prices will not drop too much more since there has been some reversal of the BS that went on after the Tyson fire. I don't think it is going to get any better for most of the fall. I also saw a brochure for a farm selling out and think there will be a few more of them. I am thinking that there will be an improvement in the spring, but that is just a bit of a guess.

Saw their report and it showed them $4-$10 lower if I recall correctly. I had a couple phone calls a week or so ago telling to sell what I could in September as October didn't look good. Hard to make much money at these prices.

Two of my neighbors sold a total of 7 pot loads of steers on the video back the end of July. I know one of them got $1.67 for 590 weight steers for November delivery. I don't know how happy they were at the time but I bet they are smiling now.

By looking at the report 700 lb bull at 107.50 and the steers 113.00 - 122.50

Yeah, should have sold these a couple weeks sooner but was busy cutting hay and getting it up and was scared October would be worse.

Both were good stock. Heifer would of made a nice cow. Cow had still been producing nice heavy calves and is the grand dam to the twin I posted not long ago. She had got just a slight imbalance or limp in the rear, that seemed to not go away. I thought was in the hip so that's the reason she was let go. If I had wanted to retain one, I would have retained the heifer because of her proven cow family and her youth. It's cheaper to buy a good one than retain one here though.

Seems like cows are priced at a premium compared to calves currently. Might be a good time to flip some cows.

Moved a herd this morning. Couple older cows in the back with slightly below average calves. They have slide back in the calving window recently...
