Sold a couple yearlings yesterday.

On overnight stand,
One weighed 865 for $.82
One weighed 680 for $.8250 (she was a fall calf)

Pretty scary thought, the smaller heifer calves aren't going to sell much better by the sounds of it.
 
With the high cost of feed and wheat grazing prospects looking dim, cow calf producers need to find ways to keep calves until they reach acceptable feedlot size.

300 to 500 lb calves will bring close to the same price per lb as 700 pounders.

The backgrounders aren;t even those 5&6 weights.
