Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA)
Program. He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400
of their annual incomes into the Program,
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would
be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust Fund"
rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would only be
used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government
program, and,
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as
income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a
Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting
taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away,"
you may be interested in the following:
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust"
fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically-controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social
Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding
vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to
immigrants?
A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved
into this country, and at age 65, began to receive SSI Social Security
payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though
they never paid a dime into it!
Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violation of the original
contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans
want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!
Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during this 2004 election year!
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and
maybe good changes will evolve.

At least you're getting a check to gripe about! My chances of ever seeing a social secruity check when I retire are about are about as good as George Bush winning a spelling bee. There's no way I will ever get out all the money I've paid in so far. I max out every yr, the company matches my employees share, and I just recieved my estimated statement the other day and if I work till 62 I 'll get like $3000 a month. Then there's guys like my dad, who paid probably $200 a month max long time ago, when wages were low, and now he's getting about $2500 a month! So enjoy it while you can!

it kind of sounds like you're talking about 2 different things. your maxing out & the company match sounds like a 401K which is separate from the company pension & social security.

i agree you can't count on social security or a pension. continue to max out the 401K (diversify, not all company stock or you might be like enron) & save on your own as well

You can max out on SS taxes at approximately $87,000 dolars of earnings. If you earn over this amount you still have to continue to pay the Medicare portion(1.45% I believe), but you quit paying the OASDI percentage (6.2%). Employers then match these.

It is the biggest ripoff ever.

That's why I'm raising cattle-at least if my investment goes sour I can eat them

I'm :? ! How are you/your dad getting that amount of money from social security? If you go to their website and look at the example table for "maximum level since age 22" then look at 2004 as retiring year (which is the highest) you will see the monthly payments that person would get are $1422 @ 62, $1784 @ 65 or $2111 @ age 70.

I really dont know what my dad is getting, but if i remember correctly, according to my last estimated statement they sent me, it was somewhere around 2500-3000 bucks a month if I retire at 65, which is still 28 yrs away.

since I own the company, I am paying the employee and the employer share of my salary. And I am having to match the employees share for my employees. I match both SS and medicare on the employees. Yes it is currently 7.65% both ways! And then I pay the unemployment taxes and the workers comp when I was carrying that also.

Did you read the original post, Mr Democratic Voter? You complain about SS but you want to vote for the party which has had a major impact on the degradation of the SS system.

Take what that man says with a grain of salt. In other words, dont believe anything he says and only half of what you see him do!
You talking about Flip Flop Fairy?

And for what it's worth, I never said I wanted to "vote Democrat". I just can't see 4 more yrs of what we've had. We need someone who has a clue about what to do to be in charge of our country. Not sure if that means voting Democrat, but I've seen what GWB can do, and I ain't impressed! I've seen lots of my competitors go out of business and the stock market tumble the past few yrs. But of course, that's the other parties fault. GWB inheirited a bad situation. He may have had it dropped in his lap, but he sure hasn't done anything to improve it either. And why is this "war" still going on after 2 yrs? Don't we have enough problems in our own country to take of without worrying about other countries? This will go down as one of the most failed administrations in history, one which got nothing done and let our economy slide into one of the worst recessions ever. I voted for Bush in 2000, but he won't get my vote again in 2004. Hopefully they get the voting machines repaired in Florida and and the correct man will take over office next time.

and who would that be?? you just as well vote for the independant or Green party because if Kerry gets in things will just get worse.

Jake, that seems to be a problem for guys like me, who can think for themselves and aren't blindly loyal to one particular party! I voted for Bush in 2000, and he has screwed up so bad and I can admit that. Am I supposed to vote for him again because he's from Texas, or because my family has always voted Republican? He is digging such a hole for this country that we may never get out of debt, certainly not in my lifetime, probably not in my childrens lifetime either. Being a young man yourself, do you really want to take on all this extra debt which will undoubtly lead to more taxes in our future? You will hear about how the Democrats want to increase spending on social programs and such, but at least it would be giving our tax money to our own citizens, not some 3rd world country or some even worse, the vice presidents former employer! And if you think Cheney doesn't have a stake in Haliburtons future, then you really are blinded by loyalty. If you really want 4 more yrs of what we've had, then by all means vote for Bush again. But myself, I think we can do better than him. I want a man who wants to be in charge, not a man who wants to spend more time on his ranch and on vacation doing other things besides running this country. I kind of think running this country should be a full time job, not something you do when you don't have anything else to do. I believe he was pushed into running by his dad and he isn't really committed to doing what it takes to be a full time president, otherwise he wouldn't spend so much time away from the whitehouse.

I would much rather see us go into further debt than lose the liberties that we in this country were born with. I don't want to see money given to people because they can squirt out more kids in 10 years than our top producing cattle. I disgusts me to see that our country has been hampered by these people and Kerry and his Democrats only want to "help" them more. I would rather our money stay here and go to work for the people who have given it to this country in the first place. 4 years of Kerry scares me a whole bunch more than 12 years of a Bush and then Cheney legacy. What's really worse sacrificing our rights and our living for others that don't deserve them and don't understand what is really going on because they are too full of them selves to realize that the average man is hurting due to us giving everything to the scum? I can't vote yet but if I could I'd still be for Bush all the way.

But we are losing our "liberties", we are just losing them slowly! Why is the president involved with the adult film industry? I personally don't like that business, but I do think they have the right make their films if they want to. And I have a right to not buy them if I choose to! Why is the president involved in the free speech issue? Who is he to say what is decent and what isn't? While I don't like alot of whats on TV and radio nowadays, I believe they have a right to put it out there. Theres nothing illegal about what they are doing. His opinions should not become laws. Our forefathers fought to give us free speech, and now he wants to take them away? Not real sure where you are coming from when you say Democrats want to give away money for women who squirt out more kids than a prize cow, but thats just not true. Do you think Bush is going to tell these women that we aren't gonna help you? There have always been social programs to help poor folks, the Democrats didn't just think this up recently. Am I for this? Of course not! But maybe if there were more jobs available, then at least some of these folks would get on someone elses payroll besides the gov't! There will always be the lazy slackers who will try and cheat the gov't for free food and money, but thats not any particular parties fault. Judging from your work ethics, this shouldnt be a concern of yours, as you will always find work and support yourself and your family.

We're on the same page on a lot of these topics, but I've been enough of the scum that I talked about to know that unless Uncle Sam makes them straighten up they're not gunna do it, plain and simple. My problem with the Democrats is that they keep wanting to add more programs to help these people that shouldn't need help in the first place. There is a scarcity of high paying jobs but when and teen age kid can go get a job most any place they choose an adult should be able to go work for what they can get. A lot of the unemployment rate is lazy people that won't go to work somewhere other than a 9-5 desk job. If they'd go manage a smaller store or what not they wouldn't have these problems. It's not there is no jobs to be found just none that people are willing to take and if their too lazy or too good for that far be it from me to make them take it because that's one more position I could hold if I need it. I hadn't heard about any of the free speech problems, your the first I've heard mention it but I'll look into it a little bit more and get back to you with my opinion on that.
Jake

Eric,
If you wait until 2005 to vote (as you say in your post above) your vote won't count (and it won't be the fault of a machine).
I am an independent and have been since I stated voting (they made my generation wait until we were 21 even though they called us to war).
The problems you describe are as much the fault of congress as they are the president.
Easy to blame a single person.
You want change?
Convince every eilgible voter to register and vote in 2004.And make sure they vote against every present office holder.

I think that you are being very short sighted in your views. What porn and TV shows like Jerry Springer and Maury Povich do is increase society's tolerance for what is acceptable. You may have some freak job that lives down the street, but after you watch a few of these shows, he doesn't seem so bad in comparison. There are already men out there who can no longer have normal sex from watching to much bizarre porn. The left wing is already pushing for gay marriages, and legalization of child porn. What is the next step? Probably legalizing sex with children and marrying animals. At what point does society say no. Once your tolerance level has been reset by these people, they take you to the next step. This is a slippery slope. We must be careful on how we proceed. It was less than 30 years ago that being a homosexual was illegal. It won't be long at this rate before all sense of morality and decency as well as common sense disappears.
