Do 8 ply side x side tires make the driving over pasture a lot rougher? I am not talking about industrial tires just regular all terrain type tires.

Heavier tires will somewhat make for a stiffer ride... but they make up for it in durability. Go to a bigger (outside diameter so a deeper sidewall, and width) heavier (plys) tire and lower the air pressure. Less risk of puncture, etc., with better flotation. Very happy I did on my 4 wheeler.

I really like the Kanati Mongrels for an all around tire. They handle good in the mud or running up and down pavement and are pretty tough as far as brush and thorns. They are pretty reasonably prices and you can get them on Amazon and stuff.

I just bought some Terrabites, also, to replace 2 bad tires on my Mule Pro. The other brand I had went way up in price and they are not better than the Mongrels or Terrabites to justify the almost $100 extra per tire.

Mostly will happen if you've got two differently sized tires front and rear... the differential has to be timed to compensate with the gears for the different spin rates. If you're in 4WD and you've got the wrong sized circumference ratio, something's gotta give.

So you guys mention lowering the tire pressure on higher ply tires. What PSI do y'all run them at?
I just press on 'em to make sure they're "soft enough"... can't tell you what the PSI is even. Too soft, they'll wear more cause they squeegie on the road in particular (not a problem if only on dirt), too hard and they ride too rough, particularly on my Honda Foreman without the independent rear suspension. Next one I think will have that for a better ride... but this one's gonna last awhile yet... only 10,000 miles on it.
