I hear women all the time talking about how a good husband is one that does the dishes, cooks and cleans. I believe young men are hearing this and if their father is not a strong male role model they begin thinking that feminine traits are more desirable in a man. snip...

Obviously, I haven't figured this new format out quite yet.

I want to call BS on this sentence of yours LJ as I came home after the same 8 hours on the job just as my wife did and cooked, cleaned and helped her as much as I could. Yes, that included hand washing the dishes. Her boys saw me every step of the way and I'm the one that got them involved doing the same things, even when their dad was saying that's women's work. They both do the same things when they need to be done these days. Yes, they saw all the 'manly' stuff I did too. So, I think you are visualizing something that's not there. I wish I had it all to do over again, even better this time.

God doesn't make mistakes, but no man can know God's intent.
and so such customs of man prevail, even though that is not what is written

Isaiah 45:19 I have not spoken in secret.... I said not, seek me in vain:
I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

By reading with understanding, God's plan and intentions are all laid out for whomever will.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved.... a workman, rightly dividing the word.

Jeremiah 10:3 The customs of the people are vain.

Matthew 15: 8-9 and Mark 7:7 [twice for emphasis]

@slick4591 I share those sentiments on the subject of sharing in responsibility of house work as well. When my wife taught school, I would help wash dishes or do laundry and still do just as she helps on the farm. There is no reason that some chores should be only for one. Children should also be taught to do chores in and around the home to prepare them for the reality of life. It gripes me to hear some of the chauvinistic comments that some men make regarding women. My wife was raised in a church that pushed the idea of strict gender roles. Once when we were visiting her parents for a week, my mother in law got aggravated at my wife when she saw me helping fold clothes.

Good for you but I work a lot more than 8 hours a day, between being maintenance supervisor and driving a bus that’s 10 hours a day, then there’s the rent houses and the farm and the vehicle maintenance and all the other outside work that has to be done and that’s another 2-4 hours a day. When I ran the hvac business I usually left home at 6 am and came home between 7 and 9 pm, not a lot of time for house work, that was the point I was making that some of these women have hard working men but think because they ain’t doing housework that they ain’t good. My wife has always appreciated the fact that she could have a job where she was off when our son was and don’t mind being the one doing the house work while I was out hustling up a dollar. I wasn’t downing a man helping around the house but that’s not what makes a good man.

Someone's decision on their own gender doesn't affect me at all. I never understood why other people chose to Judge. The same way with gay marriage, it affects me as much as it does my cows or my dogs. 🤷‍♂️

Easy on the Arkansas jokes now, Arkansas really is a great state to live in with a wide variety of resources, agriculture and scenery. We have delta flatland that grows some of the best cotton, soybeans, rice, corn, milo and we have the hills with cattle, chickens, turkeys and hogs, we also have some great rivers and lakes for recreation. Good hunting and fishing. We have oil and natural gas as well, and a fairly conservative run state, what more could a person want out of a state?
Huh... isn't that the state that brought U.S. the Clintons?

SS, follow your own reference just a little bit further, to understand what Jesus meant when He said that...

Luke 6:39-42.... if you're going to try to help others out of their own sinful ways, you'd better be pointing fingers at yourself first... or others will RIGHTLY be judging your behavior as well! Get your own house in order, and don't be haughty and prideful that you're "better" than the other fellow. But that in NO way means that we shouldn't "judge" people's behavior according to the Word of God, and call a spade a spade, when it becomes a public sin.

Right after the passage that you quote, Jesus himself goes on to "judge" people for not listening to His Word, but then still trying to claim Him as Lord... Luke 6:46... "But why do you call Me "Lord, Lord", and not do the things which I say?... vs. 49, "He who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great." Why does God himself call on us to stand up for His Word, and against sin, if we are NEVER to judge? Didn't Nathan call out David for his adultery and murder... "You are the man"....

You know what God says about homosexuality... "vile passions, dishonoring their bodies among themselves, women exchanged the NATURAL use for what is AGAINST NATURE, likewise also men leaving the NATURAL use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is SHAMEFUL,"................................... "Who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them."

SS, YOU are "approving of those who practice them", by NOT calling it sin, and by not calling those who do it to repentance. YOU are "leaving them in their sin, and allowing them to think that such behavior is "OK" with you, and with God. How is that "loving your neighbor"? And God will hold YOU accountable for your lack of love, and your unwillingness to "care what they do", even though you KNOW that God has declared it an abomination.

When someone openly expresses their sexual orientation or changes their gender and make it public, that has an influence on people....especially younger people. If those folks are public figures it is a greater influence. Perhaps that is why folks make comments about the male Wheaties olympic star who became a woman and the media makes it seem important.

Does it affect me? No. But the society we live in is collectively affected by such behavior, and it soon becomes normal. And societies morals continually go in what I consider a negative direction.

I think we can all live and let live to a large degree and some can dismiss what goes on in Hollywood with the Bruce Jenner types as no big deal......but I just wonder how some of you guys would feel if your best friend suddenly told you he was going to become a woman and indeed did just that.

Where does it stop, seen a video of a woman the other day that identifies as a dog. Walks on all 4s and has her boyfriend lead her with a leash. When someone thinks they can be whatever it’s a mental disorder and to try and normalize that is ridiculous. You are what your born as plain and simple, I pretended to be a tractor when I was a kid don’t mean I was really a tractor. Terry, you and Buck are quoting scripture but there’s no way you can read the Bible and believe it’s really okay to promote this behavior. And I know it’s not just transgender and homosexuality that’s being promoted in society. Pornography, promiscuity, divorce, foul language, abortion just to name a few are all being normalized and promoted our society and they are evil. Just because the party you support says it’s okay don’t make it okay in the eyes of God. And that goes for either party but one seems to support a lot of immorality.

In regard to previous posts referencing scriptures, there is also John 8: 7-11, 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more.

As a Christian we have to be in a right spirit, a spirit of love for our fellow man, and not in a spirit of contempt if we are going to minister to others. We are called to go and tell. To tell the good news of Christ. Discipleship takes time as does spiritual growth.

Matthew 12:30 & Luke 11:23. I agree with the absentee fathers, various chemicals in food and water as well as soy causing a lot of the problems that the squeeky brats have, but don't forget the wonderful world of entertainment. There isn't any more John Waynes, Andy Griffiths or Ward Cleavers in the spotlight to encourage these boys to grow up to be men.

HaSatan corrupts scripture and does not rightly divide the Word. Grace really is amazing, especially to those who have it, even more
so to those looking back at what has been thrown away.

What "you" consider a negative direction, not everyone. I simply don't feel that God has imbued me with the superiority to dictate to others what their morals should be.

And Jesus said that believing in him is the way to heaven. God is the Judge of man, not man. There will be a Judgment Day and only God will be the Judge. The verses on this are too numerous to even try to quote. I just believe that God is the Judge and not me.
