I have a pair of Brown swiss bull calves that I am training to be pulling steers. One of my boys lsot his mother at birth and got a real bad start. I have treated him for pneumonia and scours and he has come through both pretty well but won't gain any weight I have used a pour on wormer and have fed him a milk replacer with scours treatment. His teammate weighs abouit 350lbs but he is still around 200. What can I do to get this little guy going? He is very thin and tired acting but eats very well. I have him on 20% calf starter and on Sunshine pellets. Please help me.+

> Please help me.+ I had a bull calf whose mother died when he was one month old and of course he wouldn't take a bottle. So what we did was to mix the milk replacer with molasses water till it was like thin cake batter and pour it on his ration of Startena(Calf mix made by purina). He is now bigger than other bulls who are older than he is at 14 months.

This may help your calf because he will be able to eat more and it should reduce the risk of scours because he will not be on liquid milk. Have you tried giving him a pro-biotic bolus? These help replace gut flora and should help him digest his food better.

Good luck,

Shelby
