We have a week old brangus calf, mom's good/sound, but he's running a fever. Electrolytes 4x a day, tetracycline for a week. Temp still at 102/103. Lack of appetite, swollen joints. Vet's stumped, switched to penecyllin today. Any ideas or direction to check. 40 in, and he's the only sick one.

Sounds like septic arthritis. Swollen joints and fever.....frankly, tets don't touch it--look for a navel infection as the likely source. The joints may need to be flushed...good luck. V

Was suggested to remove him from the electrolytes, give him mild milk replacer mixed with yogurt. I know if I'm on antibiotics I end up run down and can't keep anything in me. Could it be the same with a calf? Please don't laugh...he's really a cute little guy and I hate to see something die if I haven't tried everything I can.
