Nearly ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO one Milking Shornhorn cow in Australia was crossed with 12 different Aberdeen Angus cows. The Murray Grey breed comes from that base.

Again, nearly One Hundred Years of breeding Murray Greys by now qualifies the breed as a BREED, not an Angus/Shorthorn crossbred.

It seems the shorthorn breed is popular in a lot of the composite breeds, being used as a part in many of the crosses. Santa Gertrudis comes to mind. Most of the composite breeds are relatively 'young' compared to the purebred or full blood cattle breeds of today because they were developed from these purebred cattle.
