shorthorn cattle

Help Support CattleToday:

Because they are very good beef cattle! These are beef Shorthorns, not milking Shorthorns. They also provide excellent maternal traits.

Although they carry more fat than European breeds, this adds more flavour. We butchered our Shorthorn X steer the other day and he dressed out at 330kg (He was only 2 years old, which is exceptional) Our yearling bull dressed out at 210kg. Shorthorns are a docile breed which makes them easier to manage. They make really tender, well flavoured meat. Mothers are good milkers and mothers.

Hope this helps, Jo

Shorthorns are my personal prefernence because the Red Angus' I've had experience with have been considerably flightier compared to the Shorthorns. Jo
